Shad Pearce, former law enforcement officer and current Arkansas Game and Fish division captain, has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for House of Representatives District 40, formerly District 63. The newly drawn district 40 includes parts of Independence, White, and Cleburne counties.

“I consider it a great honor and privilege to have served the public for 27 years. I will continue to do so as I announce my bid for the Arkansas House of Representatives, District 40. In our current political environment, it is highly important to elect and send a truly honest and fair representative to the House floor. I am that candidate,” Pearce said in a media release announcing his candidacy. “I seek to serve and protect the rights and interests of Arkansans, particularly those right here at home.”

Pearce, a strong advocate for supporting our men and women in law enforcement, has formerly worked for the Mountain View Police Department and the Independence County Sheriff’s Office. He is also a strong advocate for the Second Amendment, Pro-Life, and pro-parental choice in education, the release said.

“Rep. Stu Smith has been an honorable advocate for the hard-working folks in our area, and I vow to carry that dedication forward. I am a committed citizen, public servant, husband, father, and grandfather who, as your State Representative, will be transparent, diligent, and approachable. I respectfully ask for your support and your vote in the 2022 Republican Primary,” Pearce said.

Smith announced in September he would not seek re-election in 2022. (Click here for that story.)
