Obituary: Vina (Loftin) King

Vina (Loftin) King of Amagon, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the age of 85. She was born December 28, 1935, in Grubbs, Arkansas, the daughter of William Robert and Oma (Street) Loftin.

She was a 1954 graduate of Grubbs High School. She married Claude King on November 30, 1957, and they spent 57 years together.

She was a homemaker. She loved embroidery and baking, especially her peanut butter cookies. She was an avid reader, who enjoyed working on word find puzzles in her spare time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claud King; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Harold Loftin and wife, Jean, and Caraway Loftin and wife, Margret; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Beatrice Fields and husband, Herbert, Evelyn Scott and husband, James, Beulena Henderson and husband, Charlie, Covia Jackson and husband, Albert, Omagene Laird and husband, J.R., and Georgia Foster and husband, Grady; and her parents.

She is survived by one daughter, Claudia Vianna King and friend, Otto Reynolds of Beedeville, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 23, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Glenn Hurst officiating. Interment will follow in Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Dale Stokes, Josh Stokes, Jeremy Stokes, Tim Lawman, Brian Reynolds, John England, and Josh Loftin. Honorary pallbearers are members of the 1954 graduating class of Grubbs High School.

The King family would like to extend a special thank you to Debbie Lawman, Anna Obbards, Nancy Smith, Brenda Hurst, Glinda Stokes, and Elite Hospice of Forrest City.
