Charles Roy Rundell, Jr., of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, January 17, 2022, at the age of 72. He was born July 9, 1949, in Sheridan, Arkansas, the son of Charles Roy, Sr., and Hazel (Brown) Rundell.
He was a lineman for REA until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved his dogs. He especially loved rodeo. He rode bareback horses and made it to the Rodeo finals of the 1974 ARA Championships. He enjoyed riding horses with his granddaughter, Alyssa. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda Rundell of Newport; one son, Arron Cody Rundell of Greenbrier; one daughter, Callie Simpson of Newport; two grandchildren, Alyssa “Lizzie” Marie Simpson, whom he raised, of Newport, and Gage Rundell of Conway; one brother, Billy Joe Rundell and wife, Charlotte of Sheridan; three sisters, Linda Rundell, Peggy Rundell and Darlene Carter and husband, Jerry, of Sheridan; special friend, Tara Duncan of Conway; his childhood rodeo buddy, Phillip Roden; many nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2022, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
