Hospitalization numbers up, but COVID case numbers drop

New active COVID-19 case numbers are beginning to drop in Arkansas, but hospitalizations are in record numbers, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.  

On Tuesday, 3,213 new cases were reported along with 15 additional deaths, bringing the total deaths associated with COVID in Arkansas to 9,452.  

The new cases bring the active cases to 88,938, down 4,373 from Monday. On Tuesday, hospitalizations were up 67 to 1,487 with 171 of those on ventilators, down one from Monday.

Nine hundred and forty-one Arkansans completed their “fully vaccinated” status on Tuesday, bringing the fully vaccinated in Arkansas to 1,529,422.

Also on Tuesday, Governor Asa Hutchinson tweeted that Arkansas is on target to distribute the 1.5 million at-home COVID tests the state had ordered.
