The Adventure First Travel Club will host a nine-day tour through the Colorado Rockies on Sept. 17-25, which will include visits to national parks, forests and monuments, as well as excursions on two historic trains.

Interested travelers should plan to attend a preview presentation for the tour at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, in the George Rider Room at the First Community Bank Headquarters at Harrison and St. Louis Streets in Batesville. Reservations are already being accepted for this tour.

The club says “…the contrasting beauty and charm of the Rockies in Colorado and Utah will range from towering peaks to deep canyons, and from Old West towns to dynamic cities.”

According to the club, a few highlights will include:

· A scenic ride aboard an 1881 steam train of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad through the San Juan Mountains;

· Travel to the Garden of the Gods to take in the towering sandstone formations that dot the landscape;

· Marvel at the vast landscape of gorges carved by the Colorado River in Canyonlands National Park;

· View the incredibly well preserved ancient Puebloan cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park; and

· Embark on a journey aboard the Pike’s Peak Cog Railway, the world’s highest cog railroad, for an 8.9 mile trip to the top of Pike’s Peak.

Space is limited on this tour, so interested travelers should reserve their spaces now or during the preview party. Those who book reservations now will save $200 per person, reducing the cost to $3,099 per person, based on double occupancy. Single reservations are available for $3,799 per person, and “triples” (three to a room) are $3,049 per person. The price includes roundtrip airfare to Denver, all hotels, attractions, 11 meals during the tour, and motor coach transportation between Batesville at the Little Rock Airport.

“All activities of our Travel Club are designed with the health and safety of our customers and guests as the top priority,” said Dale Cole, chairman and CEO of First Community Bank. “We constantly monitor the COVID-19 situation to ensure we follow best practices and protocols to offer a safe, secure experience for everyone who participates in our program.”
