Comments from Southside Coach Fred Denison: This tournament serves as a local house tournament for all the teams that use Hollywood Bowl as their main facility for practice and home matches. In addition, it provides all teams with a preview of the type of play they will encounter during conference and state tournaments. This was the 4th year for this tournament and the 3rd year for the scholarship program. This tournament was named in honor of the memory of two of our local hall of fame bowlers who played an integral part in developing young bowlers long before high school bowling came into existence. I believe both would be honored and humbled to see how far this event has grown during these past four years. This tournament takes a lot of work, and I would like to thank everyone who volunteered, sponsored, or supported this event in any way.

On the bowling side, the Batesville boys had an outstanding tournament. Their total score set a tournament record. The Lady Southerners almost set a record for their total score, but they did set a record for their Bakers play with a total of 495 for three games. A lot of great performances from kids on all the teams, and hopefully this will transition into some high finishes for everyone at conference and state tournaments that happen over the next two weeks.

Denison notes the Southerners will face Cedar Ridge at Hollywood Bowl today at 3:30 p.m.
