Approximately 300 coaches traveled from California, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, and approximately 10 other states to attend a football clinic in Batesville this past weekend.

Kenny Simpson developed his Gun-T offense over six years ago and led the Southerner Football Program to much success. He has since branched out and started producing coaching materials to share with those in the coaching community. Simpson usually travels to schools to install this offense, but he wanted to start hosting clinics to reach a larger audience at one time, organizers said.

For his first large clinic, he wanted to show off the support of our community and decided to host it in Batesville. Last Thursday, coaches started pouring into town to attend this deep-dive learning experience held at Southside Charter High School. Sessions were held Thursday night and all day Friday and Saturday. Sessions were led by Simpson, Bo Gould, Deerick Smith, and Tommy Gilleran (Lake Hamilton).

Several of the high school football players experienced performing for those in attendance by running through drills to simulate how practices can be run efficiently.  Hotels and Airbnbs were booked, restaurants recorded high numbers, and the feedback that was received from visitors was nothing but positive comments, according to organizers.
