It all started when a woman came to the Stone County Sheriff’s Office requesting officers to accompany her to the residence of a friend who had passed away in 2020.

According to court information, the woman wanted to check and see if any property had been stolen because she had heard that was the case. The woman and two deputies went to the deceased’s residence and found that several items of value were missing including vehicles, firearms, and musical instruments.

After an investigation, the two deputies, charged Aaron A. Youmans, 49, of Melbourne, with allegedly entering the deceased’s residence after his death and stealing several items.  Youmans is also accused of selling some of the property to others, according to his arrest affidavit.

Youmans has been charged with residential burglary, second-degree forgery, theft of a vehicle, breaking or entering, four counts of felony theft of property, and one count of misdemeanor theft of property.

Youmans (pictured below) is currently in the Stone County Jail under a $15,000 bond.
