Lyon Women’s wrestling to compete in North Dakota tournament this weekend

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Lyon College Women’s wrestling team has a chance this weekend to showcase their talents on the national level.

The Scots will be competing in the NAIA Women’s Wrestling Invitational tournament on March 11th and 12th in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Laura Lincoln, Jessienna Burkett-Erice, Emma De Brum, Hailey Holland, Ashley Whetzal, Jasmine Hernandez, Rebekah Garcia, Alex Banag, Mikayla Wallace, Priscilla Luevano and Kelani Corbett all qualified for the National Tournament through the Sooner Athletic Conference championships two weeks ago.

The doors open for the event on March 11 at 8 a.m. with Session 1 beginning at 9 a.m. with rounds one and two. At 6 p.m., Session 2 begins for the third and fourth rounds. On March 12, doors open at 9 a.m. and Session 3 begins at 10 a.m. with the fourth round (championship semifinals), the fifth round (consolation quarterfinals), the sixth round (consolation semifinals) and the consolation placements. At 7 p.m., Session 4 begins with the championship finals.

The Scots as a team rank 11th  overall in the NAIA Women’s Wrestling Coaches Top 20 Final Poll.
