Authorities say a man who killed himself after a high-speed chase in Paragould Monday night was wanted in connection to the death of a man found in a submerged vehicle last week in Mammoth Spring.

Region 8 News reports Rodney Trammell, Jr. died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after crashing his vehicle following a pursuit on Highway 412. The Jonesboro news outlet said Trammell was wanted after Larry Galloway, 45, was found dead last week inside a vehicle submerged in the Spring River.

Around 4:30 p.m. last Tuesday, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department received a report concerning a submerged vehicle at the Cold Springs access on the Spring River in Mammoth Spring. After the Mammoth Spring Fire Department took its rescue boat to mark the location of the vehicle, a diver confirmed there was a body inside. Investigators said after they learned of Trammell’s whereabouts, an Arkansas State Police trooper attempted to pull him over. After Trammell failed to yield, Greene County Sheriff Steve Franks said the chase along Highways 412 and 49 ended when Trammell’s Jeep crashed into a pole and rolled over.

“The two deputies that were in the lead of the pursuit at the time ran up to the suspect’s vehicle,” Franks said in the Region 8 report. “The suspect turned at that time, looked at the deputies, pulled a weapon, and shot himself.”
