A Lake Village man was arrested this weekend in Mountain View after officials said he became disorderly at a local motel.

Trace Allen Scott (pictured below), 24, was charged in Stone County Circuit Court Wednesday morning with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, criminal use of prohibited weapons, and being in possession of firearms by certain persons after the Saturday night incident at the Dogwood Motel.

According to Scott’s arrest affidavit, he was arrested by Mountain View Police Sgt. Rick Crome after being repeatedly told to stop yelling and cursing in the motel’s parking lot. The affidavit said Scott was upset the motel was holding his belongings after being charged an extra night. Officials from the motel told authorities Scott had only paid for two nights, but was being charged another night’s stay because he checked out 11 hours past his scheduled check-out time.

Scott’s tirade continued until he loudly yelled an obscenity toward Crome who then placed Scott under arrest for disorderly conduct, according to the affidavit.

After being placed in handcuffs, Scott informed Crome he had a firearm in the waistband of his shorts. The affidavit said Crome not only retrieved a firearm, but also a pair of brass knuckles and two additional magazines for the pistol from Scott’s shorts pockets.

According to Crome, Scott informed the officer that he was “allowed to have the gun,” but that he could not purchase a firearm at any store because he had been “flagged for an anger issue and mental instability.” After checking Scott’s information from the Arkansas Crime Information Center, Crome told Scott he would now also face an additional charge of having a firearm in his possession.

Scott was transferred to the Stone County Jail. His bond was set at $7,500.
