State officials say sales tax revenue from medical marijuana sales totaled $32.12 million for the 2022 fiscal year.

June marks the end of the fiscal year (July 1, 2021 to June 30) of sales, a year — that according to an article from Little Rock television station KARK — showed strong sales of medical marijuana over the 12 months.

The station said sales in June totaled around $22.29 million, a figure representing 3,296 pounds of marijuana across 38 dispensaries for the month.

The top two dispensaries for June sales were Sherwood’s Natural Relief Dispensary with 388 pounds for the month and Bentonville’s The Releaf Center with 313 pounds sold.

A spokesperson for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration told KARK on Thursday that state medical marijuana patients are spending $22.37 million on average each month to purchase 3,920 pounds.

There are 84,472 medical marijuana cards in the state, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

According to Talk Business & Politics, most of the tax revenue is placed in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences National Cancer Designation Trust Fund.
