Obituary: Herman Edward Rouse Sr.

Herman Edward Rouse Sr. 92, of Bay, Arkansas departed this life on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at his home. He was born September 4, 1929, in Florence, Alabama in Limestone County his parents were Charlie and Ruth (Wiggington) Rouse.

He married Sharon Graham on October 3, 1981, and they have enjoyed 41 years of marriage.

After 12 years of education and receiving his GED, he joined the United States Army and served his county for the next 20 years. He started his training in Fort Bragg, NC, and then he did Vietnamese language training in California. During 20 years in service, he received many medals: Army Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant, Good Conduct Medal (three different times). He also received two other medals: Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal in Berlin and an Occupation Medal while in Germany.

After retiring from service he worked 10 years at St Bernard Medical Center in Jonesboro and five years in Baptist Medical in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Robert, Marvin, Lester, and Clifford, and one sister, Louise Rost, and one granddaughter, Alison White.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Graham) Rouse of the home in Bay, one son, Herman Edward Rouse Jr. from Kingland, Arkansas, four daughters: Diana Matney of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Deborah Payton of Benton, Arkansas, Sharon Holmes of Harrisburg, Arkansas, and Karen Eldridge also of Bay, Arkansas, two sisters: Pauline Timbs and Reba Henderson both of Trumann, Arkansas, 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Anthony Renshaw, Timmy Renshaw, Greg Rouse, Shannon Rouse, Ray Benton, and Greg Hall will serve as active pallbearers and Dillon Johnson will conduct the service.

Visitation will be Friday ~ July 15, 2022, from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. at Jackson’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 A. M. at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Farm Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
