Michael Wayne McGraw, born to Jeanette (Jan) Gray, nee Briggs, and William F (Bill) McGraw on February 12, 1949, passed away July 20, 2022. Both parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his half-sister, Donna McGraw Boyles, and two step sisters, Brenda Schmitt Mitchell and Barbara Schmitt Moon, all of Little Rock.
He attended Hall Senior High School, then moved to Memphis, TN, where he was a Naval Reservist and worked for the railroad. At 19 Mike was in a car accident, with minor injuries except for his head striking a hard surface. The brain damage required 24/7 assistance until his death.
The family would like to thank all caretakers at Arkansas Center for Independence in Newport, AR, where Mike lived, for all the care and affection they bestowed on him. A special thanks to Ms. Kristie Moody, whom he called ma’am.
Mike knew every word to songs by Creedence Clearwater Revival, liked to sing along to Elvis, and spent lots of time enjoying drawing. He’d tell people he smoked Winston’s and drank Schlitz! Not!
On July 20th, Mike was at his doctor’s office, let out a deep breath, dropped his head and met his Lord. Thank you, Lord, for all the protection, provision and blessings granted to Mike; and, especially the mercy in his departure from our lives.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 28, 11:30 am at Pinecrest Cemetery, 7401 Hwy 5 (Stagecoach Road), Alexander AR. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Arkansas Center for Independence, PO Box 785, Newport AR 72112
