Tonya Gibson, the nutritional food services director for the Batesville School District, said there is a very important questionnaire for every family in the district to complete and return to the school.

The form for “Free and Reduced Lunch” can be found on the Food Service page on the Batesville Schools website.

“It lets the kids and parents know if they qualify for free, reduced, or paid lunches,” said Gibson.

Gibson said since the free lunch program enjoyed by all last year, has been discontinued, information from the questionnaire can be very helpful.

The district has qualified for after-school snacks for those who participate in after-school activities, according to Gibson. She said all campuses are included in the program.

Gibson also said grants received by the district allow for a fresh fruit and vegetable program at two qualifying campuses — Eagle Mountain Elementary and West Elementary.

She said the grants provide over $62,000 to purchase and serve fresh fruits and vegetables on those two campuses.
