Earlier today:

The U.S. Geological Survey reports the third earthquake in less than a month has been recorded in Lawrence County.

The USGS said a 2.0-magnitude quake occurred around 7 a.m. on Monday, centered about 3 miles south of Imboden with a depth of almost 10 miles. (Click here for the USGS info on the quake.)

A 2.6-magnitude earthquake was recorded near Manila, Ark., on Wednesday, Sept. 1. That quake had a depth of about 4.5 miles.

And a 3.1-magnitude quake also struck near Imboden on Aug. 21.

The latest Imboden earthquake is the latest in a string of northeast Arkansas quakes. In June, geologists reported a swarm of at least six quakes in the northeastern section of Arkansas.

In the winter of 1811 and 1812, the New Madrid seismic zone generated a months-long sequence of earthquakes that included three very large earthquakes estimated to be between magnitude 7 and 8.
