Mildred Lorene (Sis) Altman, 90, of Batesville, departed this life on September 19, 2022.
She was born in Sandtown, Arkansas on September 2, 1932, to Andrew Reed and Bonnie Seymore Kelly.
After graduation from Cave City High School, she moved to Hobbs, New Mexico to work for Western Union Telegram. While working, she met her husband Eldon Earl Altman. She had several employments in New Mexico and Texas while raising their three daughters. She then returned to the area and worked for Gold Bond Stamp, Paul Kelly Western Store, and Portable Fire.
She had many things that brought her enjoyment in life. Her family was at the top. She was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed cooking. She was a terrific hostess. She made sure you were comfortable before she thought about herself. She loved going to yard sales and finding her next treasure. She loved going to church, where she was a charter member, at Quail Valley Free Will Baptist. She loved her women’s Sunday School group.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth (Bonnie Beth) Altman; her grandchildren Michael Rhea, Layla Altman and Jessica Altman; three great-grandchildren, Dakota (Matthew) Haga, Hannah Rhea, and Ethan Rhea, one great great granddaughter Chandler Haga and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her family, her mother and father, 4 brothers, Russell Kelly, Jim (Bud) Kelley, Paul Kelly, and Gene Kelly, 2 sisters, Mary Ellen (Kelly) Milligan, and Bonnie Joyce Kelly, and her husband of 49 years Eldon Altman, and 2 daughters, Judy Altman-Rhea and Beverly Altman.
Visitation will be at Quail Valley Free Will Baptist Church at 10:00 am. Service will follow at 11:00 am.
The interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville, AR.
