A Sharp County man has been arrested after authorities allege he spiked his wife’s drink with meth.

According to circuit court records, Caleb L. Hale, 34, of Williford, was charged with one felony count of the introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another person.

The charge came after authorities say Hale admitted he put a “chunk of methamphetamine” in his wife’s drink over the Labor Day holiday weekend without her knowledge.

Authorities say Hale and his wife both tested positive for methamphetamine after a judge at a Sept. 7 Department of Human Services meeting concerning the couple and their children ordered both parents to take the drug test.

The affidavit said Hale’s wife was “adamant she had not used the substance.” The court record also said Caleb Hale told a family service worker he put the methamphetamine in his wife’s drink without her knowledge for sex.

Once the court proceedings were finished, the affidavit said the couple was interviewed at the Sharp County Sheriff’s Department. That’s when authorities say Caleb Hale made the admission in a post-Miranda interview.

Caleb L. Hale was placed on a bond of $7,500.
