Carolyn married Leon R. Reece Shipman on May 4th, 1973 after dating for many years. Four years later, they had their daughter, DeAnna Lea Collins (Shipman). Carolyn loved the church and went when she was physically able to go. Carolyn has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Mtn. View, Arkansas since she was 12 years old.

Carolyn has worked in many places and has touched many lives throughout her career. After her job at DHS, Carolyn began her job at Holiday Mountain Resort in 1981, as an office manager, for 34 years until health reasons arose with her husband and self. She began to work at Stone County Senior Citizen Center and Ozark Folk Center until she was diagnosed with cancer.

Carolyn loved being involved and helping others. She would often visit friends and family in nursing homes, hospitals, and homes. She was a mother to many in the community. She loved with her whole heart and expected nothing in return.

Carolyn made lifelong friendships while she was involved with several clubs in Stone County: Ozark Scarlett Grannies (Red Hatters), Stone County Medical Auxiliary in which she is the elected treasurer of the gift shop and Stone County Historical Society since 1978.

Carolyn loved all things in life and never took things for granted. Carolyn’s hobbies were reading, collecting items, going to Sonic for a Sprite with her sister, Norma, and spending time with family.
