Ersalene Rucker departed this life on November 21, 2022. She was born October 10, 1931, in Elgin in Jackson County to the late Harvey James Bailey Sr. and Ermaneil of Tuckerman, Arkansas. She grew up in Tuckerman and joined New Hope Baptist Church at an early age. She later moved to Yonkers, New York and became a member of Pressley Memorial Church of God in Christ.
She worked as a dietary cook at Yonkers Professional Hospital until she retired.
Ersalene was preceded in death by her husband, Therry Rucker Sr.; her parents, Harvey James Bailey Sr. and Ermaneil Bailey; her stepson, Roy Lee Rucker; her sisters, Ermalene Miller, Mary Jo Bailey, Emma L. Moore, Allene Bailey and Rosetta Bailey; her brothers, Jerome Bailey Sr. and Jimmy Nathan Bailey.
She is survived by her sister, Alma Walker (Therman) of Newport; her brother, Allen Bailey of Detroit, Michigan; her step-daughters, Marzetta Rucker of St. Louis, Missouri and Mary Foster Sims of St. Louis, Missouri. She also leaves several aunts, Emma Jean Steward, Carolyn Williams, Dorthy West, Lisa Turner, Veida Dothard and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and special friends, Portia Johnson, Kathleen Saunders and Helen Lipscomb of Yonkers, New York.
