According to a post on social media, the Izard County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating several counterfeit bills being passed at local businesses.

The department is reminding businesses and barterers to be observant of bills being received and, if a counterfeit bill is encountered, to retain the bill and contact the sheriff’s office.

The department says counterfeit bills come in many different variants. Some may appear normal but feel inconsistent, while others may have abnormal notations on them, such as: “For Motion Picture Use Only” or “For Training Use Only.”

Anyone with information regarding the manufacturing or distribution of counterfeit bills can reach out to the Izard County Criminal Investigation Division at (870) 368-4203. All tips will remain anonymous.
