Lyon College to present ‘Chess in Concert’ Feb. 9-12

The Lyon College Music department will present a concert version of the 1986 musical, “Chess,” Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 9-11, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. in Sloan Auditorium of Brown Fine Arts Building on the Lyon College campus, 2300 Highland Rd., Batesville.
The concert features music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of the pop group ABBA and lyrics by Ulvaeus and Tim Rice.

“Chess” is the story of a love triangle between two grandmasters – one American, one Russian – and a woman who serves as a manager to one of the players but falls in love with the other.

General admission is $10 at the door. Admission is free for Lyon College students, faculty, and staff.

Directed by Lyon College piano, organ, and voice faculty member Kristian Ameigh, the production features cast members Garrett Russell as Anatoly Sergievsky, Logan Richerson as Alexander Molokov, Valley Murrell as the Arbiter, Amanda Shelley as Walter de Courcey, Rebecca Ward as Svetlana Sergievsky, Carolyn Reed as Florence Vassy, and Tyler Serracino as Frederick Trumper.
