Batesville School District Communications Coordinator Megan Renihan has been nationally recognized for her work in the district.

The 31-year-old was recognized in the class of 2022-23, “35 under 35,” by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). The recognition points out the outstanding contributions to their school districts, the top 35 made during the school year — and all members of the class are under the age of 35.

The NSPRA said Renihan’s selection was based on her “emerging leadership and commitment to excellence in school communications.”

According to the award nomination submission for Renihan, she “…played a pivotal role in helping pass a successful bond issue” through communications, marketing, and organizing stakeholder meetings.”

The submission also noted Renihan for:

  • starting a “stream team” with high school students that streams extracurricular events to YouTube and Facebook;
  • starting two podcasts — one focusing on news information repurposed from White River Now’s “Pioneer Update” and one focusing on mental health resources for students that is entitled “Courageous Converasations;”
  • bringing about “…a wave of change and efficiency by cutting budgets for marketing, creating long-lasting relationships with people throughout the community, as well as becoming a well-known friendly face in Independence County.”

Renihan also recently presented a talk on the BSD Solar Initiative during the NSPRA Conference that brought inquiries from school districts around the country. Click here for more on that story.

According to its website, NSPRA’s 35 Under 35 program recognizes professional and professional partner members who are making a difference for their school districts or education-related employers.
