Obituary: Gerald William Tosh

Gerald William Tosh, 86, of Batesville, AR, died on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Gerald was born August 21, 1936, In O’Neal, AR, to the late George Loyd Tosh and Dela Agnies (Wood) Tosh. He was of Jehovah’s Witness faith. Gerald served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. With a service record that spanned 21 years, he proudly served in both the Vietnam War and Korean War. Gerald was a true patriot and loved his country. He was also a very hard worker. After retiring from the military, he went on to work for 17 years at GenCorp, earning his retirement status there as well. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Gerald was a loving husband of more than 63 years to the late Patsy Sue (Humphries) Tosh. Out of all of Gerald’s hobbies and passions, nothing meant more to him than his family, especially when he and his wife, Patsy spent time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Gerald will be dearly missed and forever loved by all that were blessed to know him.

Gerald is preceded in death by both of his parents; his loving wife, Patsy; his brothers, Cleo Edwin Tosh and Loyd Eugene Tosh; his daughter-in-law, Reva Uvonne Tosh; and two nephews, Lynn Tosh and Kenneth Ray Tosh. He is survived by his sons, Gerald R Tosh (Rhonda) and Kenny Tosh (Dede); his daughters, Vickie Gagne (Brad Jackson), Sandra Moody (Odell), Sheri Tosh Ward, and Kathy Martin (Wesley); his brothers, Ray Oliver Tosh (Carolene) and John Wesley Tosh (Cynthia); his sister’s-in-law, Myrtle Lee Tosh and Barbara Tosh; 12 grandchildren, Christopher Reynolds, Timothy Tosh (Kacee), Jeffery Tosh (Taylor), Sean Tosh (Erin), Greg Tosh (Chelsie), Donna Mills (Andy), Courtney Holt (Raymond), Kristin Tosh (Cody), Devan Shelley (Clint), Brittany Martin (Earl), Michael Moody (Paige), and Aaron Moody (Micah); 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. There will be a visitation on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at Willis Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville, AR. There will be a graveside service at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Cushman, AR, officiated by Bro. Barry Wilkes, on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 10 a.m. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be all of Gerald’s grandsons. The family would like to recognize the following persons as honorary pallbearers, Ken Rawlings, James Melton, and Rick and Gloria Sparrow. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to all the caregivers that cared for Gerald throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation.
