The search continued Monday for a man who disappeared Saturday afternoon north of Rosie, near the White River.
Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens said the man is believed to have tried to cross a low-water bridge on a side-by-side when he was swept into the river. Stephens said the side-by-side was recovered Sunday. Authorities have not released the name of the man, but he is reportedly from Poinsett County.
Independence County Judge Kevin Jeffery said he was told the man was 62 years old.
Crews from the Office of Emergency Management, Southside and Northside Fire Departments, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, along with the Independence County Sheriff’s Department, are involved in the search.
