Obituary: Virginia Lou Park

Virginia Lou Park, 84, of Newport departed this life on March 30, 2023.  She was born June 30, 1938, to Dellie Runyon and Vera Crayton (Long) Runyon.

Virginia was a kind, loving woman who looked forward to family gatherings, where she could spend time with her family and friends.  She loved baking, and pecan pies were one of her most loved dishes.  She also enjoyed working in her flower garden.  The best times were times spent with her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Billy Park; her son, Donald Wayne Park; her daughter, Lisa Gaye Park; her son-in-law, Teddy Baumgarner; her brothers, Junior Runyon, Billy Runyon, and D.R. Runyon.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Baumgarner of Newport; her brothers, Doyle Runyon (Sarah) of Tupelo, Truman Runyon (Sandy) of Tupelo and Jacky Runyon of McCrory; her sisters, Syble Simpson of Newport, Brenda Jackson of Tupelo and Ann Davis (Jim) of Judsonia; her granddaughter, Lisa Cochrane; her great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Baumgarner and Ava Clark and her bonus great-grandchildren, Thomas Cochrane, Melissa Cochrane and Ella Cochrane.

Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2023, at Dillinger Funeral Home—Interment at Sandhill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel.
