Batesville man charged with six drug-related felonies

A 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force investigation utilizing a confidential informant led to a Batesville man being charged with six drug-related felonies. 

According to information filed Monday in Independence County Circuit Court, the case file started in January 2023 when the Drug Task Force received confidential information concerning the suspect allegedly distributing cocaine throughout Independence County.

The court information said the operation utilized an undercover informant to make “buys” of cocaine from the subject under investigation — Larry Deshawn Jackson, 32, of Batesville.

Jackson is charged with selling to the confidential informant on four occasions: once in January 2023, twice in March 2023, and once in May 2023. The court record says each buy was captured on audio/video, with the informant being “wired” in each instance.

On June 2, 2023, members of the Drug Task Force, deputies from the Independence County Sheriff’s Department, and members of the Batesville Police Department executed a search warrant at Jackson’s residence on Carol Street in Batesville. 

The court information said officers found 100 grams of marijuana in a bedroom, packaged separately in bags and jars.

Jackson was taken into custody and charged with four counts of selling cocaine, maintaining a drug premises within 1,000 feet of a Certified Drug-Free Zone, and possession of marijuana with the purpose to deliver. All six counts are felonies.

Jackson was placed on a $100,000 bond. He is currently incarcerated in the Independence County Jail.
