
Carl “Butch” Koerbel of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the age of 76. He was born March 3, 1947, the son of Carl Koerbel and Geraldine (Whitmire) Altis.
On June 14, 1968, Butch married Miss Brenda Kay Hutchinson, and together they spent 55 years, building a life and raising their son, Chris.
He worked at Capital Wire in Newport until its closure. He later retired from Shearer’s Foods.
He enjoyed visiting flea markets and restoring old bicycles. He was an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife Kay and son, Chris, the most important people in his life.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Geraldine (Whitmire) Altis and Bruce Altis; and his father, Carl Koerbel.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Kay (Hutchinson) Koerbel of the home; one son, Chris Koerbel of Newport; several cousins, aunts, uncles, and inlaws; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit the funeral home, Thursday, August 10, 2023, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Calvin Crossing Cemetery at Alicia with Mr. Larry Joe Jordan officiating.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Terry Hutchinson, Johnny Hutchinson, Mike Raibley, Junior Briner, Bud Felts, and Leroy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Reginal Williams, Lonnie Taylor, J.P. Yarbrough, Bobby Pierce, and Marty Hutchinson.
