EARLIER:

A man was killed and another injured Monday afternoon, September 4, in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 167 near Batesville.

Authorities say a Yamaha motorcycle driven by Michael Owens, 63, of Batesville, turned left from Phieffer Road onto US Highway 167, heading southbound.

Police say the vehicle crossed all lanes of traffic and drove into the path of a Dodge Charger driven by 36-year-old Brandon Trewyn of Newport.

Trooper First Class Jeffrey A. Richardson said Trewyn, in his Dodge Charger, drove off the highway to his right in an attempt to miss a collision, but the front of the Charger made contact with the Yamaha.

The state police fatality report said Owens died from his injuries, and Trewyn was treated for injuries at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
