Obituary: John Almond Campbell

John Almond “J.A.” Campbell, 92, of Sandtown, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in Batesville, Arkansas. He was born March 7, 1931, in Franklin, Arkansas to Earnest and Belva (Hastings) Campbell. He was a cattle farmer and a member of the Pools Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and being a houndsman.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Doretha Campbell; one daughter, Darline Campbell; one brother, Jerry Campbell; and four sisters, Freda Thomas, Wanda Roach, Cleva Lesley Carter and Nina Carter.

He is survived by his daughter, Dorene Stephens (Danny) of Sandtown, Arkansas; two brothers, Bob Campbell (Dana) of Sandtown, Arkansas and Gary Campbell (Charlotte) of Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas; one sister, Earnestine Campbell of Sandtown, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Nathan Stephens (Melissa) of Sandtown, Arkansas and Jenny Tosh (Russell) of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pools Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Sandtown with Bobby Sanders officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Lee’s Chapel Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Arkansas.
