Walter Lee Callahan, 85, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away on October 27, 2023, peacefully, at his home. He was born January 13, 1938, in Sunnyland, Arkansas to Henry and Georgia Mae (Branscum) Callahan.
Walter was a Christian and of the Pentecostal faith. He was a faithful member of the Turkey Creek Trinity Pentecostal Church. He loved going to church, singing, playing his guitar, visiting with folks, woodworking, laying rock, fishing, and spending time with family, especially his grandkids. More than anything, Walter loved witnessing to people about Jesus. He never met a person where he didn’t ask, “Do you know Jesus?” He was loved by many people and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Margaret (Margie) Ann Callahan; nine children, Donna Geuder of Elwood, Indiana, Phillip Callahan of Springdale, Arkansas, Timmy Callahan of Turkey Creek, Arkansas, Tommy Callahan of Conway, Arkansas, Ronnie Callahan of Fox, Arkansas, Danny Callahan, Jacob Braswell of Wesley, Arkansas, Johnathan Braswell of Mountain View, Arkansas, and Gloria Yarmon of Mountain View, Arkansas; eight siblings, Floyd Callahan of Turkey Creek, Arkansas, Kenneth Callahan of Wesley, Arkansas, Lola Brown of Mountain View, Arkansas, Truman Callahan of Sunnyland, Arkansas, Jennie Temple of Wesley, Arkansas, Michael Callahan of Wesley, Arkansas, Lucille Haley of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and Rick Callahan of Missouri. Walter is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Georgia Callahan; six siblings, William Callahan, Beatrice Callahan, Buddy Callahan, Annie Callahan, and two infant siblings.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 at the Rushing Cemetery, beginning at 11:00 am. Sister Sharon Callahan will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral expense at Mountain View Funeral Service.
Pallbearers are Scottie Yarmon, Montgomeri Yarmon, Christian Tipton, Andrew Benke, Johnathan Braswell, and Phillip Callahan.
Honorary Pallbearers are grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
