Franklin Taylor Gibson, 82, of Jonesboro, Arkansas departed this life Tuesday, January 10, 2024, at his residence in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born June 25, 1941, in Harrisburg, Arkansas the son of Albert Grover and Dessie Mary (Mittchuson) Gibson and they both have preceded him in death. He was also preceded by one brother, Albert Grover Gibson Jr. Franklin married Wilma Ilene Herndon on June 24, 1961, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage before her passing on December 11, 2022. Franklin was a paint contractor and farmed several places in Mississippi and Arkansas. Franklin was a very family-oriented man and loved his dog. He competed in the Senior Adult Olympics and won medals in groups younger than him. Franklin won three different medals and gave them to his three grandsons. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying football, baseball, and duck hunting. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his dogs. He is survived by one son, Albert (Debbie) Gibson of Jackson, Mississippi, one daughter, Terry Richards of Jonesboro, Arkansas, three grandsons and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday ~ January 13, 2024, from 1:00 until service time. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 P.M. in Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, Arkansas. Bro Wyndell King will conduct the service and family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. The interment will be in Harrisburg Memorial Park.
