Debra Ann (Emery) Simons, 62, of Tuckerman departed this life on February 1, 2021. She was born in Newport on June 24, 1961, to L.C. and Louise (Gates) Emery.
In her journey of faith, Debra embraced Baptist beliefs. The melodies of Christian music resonated in her heart, a soulful soundtrack to her spiritual connection. Playing with her two canine companions, L.C. and Cuddles, brought joy, and the act of writing scriptures from the Bible became a cherished practice, embodying her devotion.
Her love extended beyond immediate family, encompassing numerous nieces and nephews who found comfort in her affection. Debra’s life, marked by faith, music, and the simple joys of companionship, remains a testament to the enduring impact of love and spirituality in the hearts of those who were touched by her presence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Simons; her parents; L.C. and Louise (Gates) Emery; her grandparents, Charlie and Loucille Gates and Tine and Irene Emery.
She is survived by her brother, David Emery (Tammy) of Pocahontas; special aunts, Carolyn Bailey of Tuckerman and Sue Huskey (Carroll) of Tuckerman; her nieces and nephews, Tyler Emery (Elizabeth) of Maynard, Shawna Gail Talley (Ben) of Newport, Jennifer Burdett (Jonathon) of Georgia, Adam Green (Kristen) of Virginia, Ginger Willis (Matt) of Tuckerman; numerous great nieces and nephews and friends.
Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024. Visitation will be from 1:30 until service time. Interment at Gracelawn Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Greg Peavy, Chad Peavy, Joe Williams, and Lonny Woods.
