Fire crews investigate smoke at medical center

UPDATE: The Batesville Fire Department responded to a fire in the dietary department of White River Medical Center (WRMC) Friday afternoon.

According to White River Health, thanks to the quick action of WRMC employees and the fire department, the fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

The WRMC Cafeteria will be temporarily closed for cleanup and repair.

In a post on White River Health’s Facebook page, the health organization thanked the Batesville Fire Department for their quick response and continued diligence.

EARLIER:

Crews from the Batesville Fire Department investigated a report of smoke at White River Medical Center Friday afternoon.

According to a social media post from the department (see below), the scene was under control, but fire personnel were going to remain on the scene to investigate possible smoke in other areas of the building. No injuries or damage have been reported.
