Fulton County authorities have made an arrest in a homicide case dating back nearly two decades.

According to a release from Fulton County Sheriff Jake Smith, Dennis A. Kingston, 65, was arrested on Feb. 23 after he confessed to shooting David “Stony” Stone through a window at a residence in a rural part of the county on Aug. 25, 2004.

Smith said the Arkansas State Police and the sheriff’s office continued to work the case over the years. In May 2023, Detective Dale Weaver with the sheriff’s office took over the case and, according to the sheriff, interviewed persons of interest, reviewed the evidence, and located even more evidence to submit to the Arkansas State Crime Lab.

After interviewing Kingston about the homicide earlier in the month, Weaver interviewed Dennis Kingston again on February 23. After that interview, the sheriff said Weaver arrested Kingston when he confessed to shooting Stone through the window in August of 2004.

Kingston has been charged in Fulton County Circuit Court with one count of first-degree murder and one count of felony with a firearm. He is being held without bond.
