Obituary: Henry Wade Freeman

Henry Wade Freeman of Oil Trough, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the age of 75. He was born November 10, 1948, in Newport, the son of E.A. and Letty Ruth (Hays) Freeman.

Mr. Freeman was an Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War with great courage and resilience. His bravery earned him two Purple Hearts and Bronze Stars, accolades that reflect his selflessness and sacrifice during his service. Mr. Freeman went on to work for the United States Postal Service in Newport as a maintenance man and he also drove a postal run route, transporting mail from Batesville to Little Rock. Mr. Freeman’s life was a testament to service, bravery, and unwavering dedication to his community.

Mr. Freeman was a hardworking man and enjoyed his time raising cattle and collecting guns. He will be remembered for always being there for his friends and family anytime he was needed.

Mr. Freeman is preceded in death by two brothers, Presley Freeman and Kenneth Freeman; the mother of his children, Judy (Helms) Selvidge; and his parents.

He is survived by his son, Edward Allen Freeman, of Oil Trough; two daughters, Anna Marshall of Mabelvale and Peggy Sue Gillette of Oil Trough; four brothers, Gaylord Freeman and wife, Linda, of Oil Trough, Raymond Freeman and wife, Cathy, of Tuckerman, Wayne Freeman and wife, Cara, of Oil Trough, and Timothy Freeman and wife, Sarah, of Oil Trough; a sister, Letty Sue Addington, of Oil Trough; seven grandchildren, Harrison William Gillette, Kennedy Suzanne Gillette, Jackson Gillette, Reagan Jewel Gillette, Theodore Jude Freeman, Edward Allen Freeman, Jr., and Liam Urijah Wade Freeman; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit the funeral home on Saturday, May 4, 2024, beginning at 10:30 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Shane King officiating.
