Obituary: Belva LaFaye (Nelson) Hutchinson

Belva LaFaye (Nelson) Hutchinson of Newport departed this life on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born April 10, 1932, in Rector, Arkansas, the daughter of Vernie and Gertrude (Dorris) Nelson.
She graduated from Rector High School, where she was on the basketball team. She married Mr. Virgil Hutchinson on July 24, 1949, they enjoyed sixty years of marriage. Mrs. Hutchinson loved cooking and was known for her famous dumplings and apple pies. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and traveling, she always had a bag packed ready to go. Mrs. Hutchinson was an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church for seventy-five years, where she sang in the choir and was in the Ladies Auxiliary. Her greatest love was her family, she enjoyed spending time with them.
Mrs. Hutchinson was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Hutchinson; one brother, Byron Ray Nelson; her parents; her maternal grandparents, William Commadore and Clemma Elizabeth (McKenzie) Dorris.
She is survived by one son, Todd David Hutchinson of Newport; one daughter, Beth Hutchinson Bright, and husband, Larry, of Newport; one very special sister, Beatrice Fisher of Cave City; four grandchildren, Amber Hutchinson Taylor and husband, Joel, of Ladonnia, Texas, Derek Bright and wife, Katie, of Newport, Summer Bright Haik and husband, Rich, of Springfield, Missouri; and Kaelin Hutchinson Garcia and husband, Edgar, of Newport; eight great grandchildren, Joseph Taylor, Asher Taylor, Danika Taylor, Kari Taylor, Molly Bright, Clara Bright, Ruby Bright, and Warner Haik; and a host of nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at Jackson’s Funeral Home, on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Watson Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Mickey Doyle, Gill Doyle, Randy Wagner, Darrin Hutchinson, Shane Hutchinson, and Heath Hutchinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Bradley, Barbara Bradley, and Bob Wilkin.
