Obituary: Maxine (Mann) Miller

Maxine (Mann) Miller of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born February 9, 1937, in Indianola, Mississippi, the daughter of Ernest Preston “E.P.” and Mamie (Price) Mann.

Miss Mann attended Beedeville High School and later got her GED. She married Mr. Hershel Miller in June of 1952, they enjoyed 70 years of marriage. She worked as a secretary for the Richwood Fire Department and for America Greeting in McCrory for a while. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies included fishing, bowling, sewing, and cooking. Mrs. Miller attended Central Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Miller; one son, David Keith Miller; four brothers, Albert Mann, Cecil Mann, Bobby Junior Mann, and Wayne Mann; and her parents.

Mrs. Miller is survived by one son, Hershel Dale Miller and wife, Yalonda, of California; one daughter, Kathy Renee Smith and husband, Ralph, of Newport; five grandchildren, Andrea Camden and husband, Jason, Heather Smith, Noah Smith, Sarah Miller, and Aidan Miller; great-grandchild, Carson Camden; two brothers, Neal Mann and wife, Lola, of Newport, and Jimmy Mann and wife, Pearl, of Beedeville; three sisters, Judy Carlisle and husband, Woody, of Heber Springs, Brenda Martin of Jonesboro, and Marlene McWilliams of Amagon; numerous nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit the funeral home, on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will be in Balch-Johnston Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Bob Wayne Mann, Roger Mann, Dennis Mann, Cody Mann, Tyler Mann, and Daryn Mann.
