Music, food, dancing, and the celebration of medical milestones will be part of the second annual A Heart Like Mine Gala, coming Saturday, June 22, to Edwards Common on the Lyon College campus in Batesville. The event will benefit A Heart Like Mine Foundation, an Independence County-based foundation supporting families affected by congenital heart disease.
A Heart Like Mine Foundation’s Stephanie Fletcher and Batesville Children’s Clinic’s Tyler Sandlin, APRN, recently visited with White River Now’s Chad Whiteaker in the Greenway Equipment studio on Arkansas 103.3 KWOZ.
Listen to the conversation below and learn more about the big event and the work supported by the A Heart Like Mine Foundation.
Fletcher’s daughter, Annabelle, was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), a congenital disability that affects normal blood flow through the heart. According to the CDC, as the baby develops during pregnancy, the left side of the heart does not form correctly. HLHS is one type of congenital heart defect. (Congenital means present at birth.)
