Strong storms move across north Arkansas; five fatalities reported

Officials report five people have been killed after a severe storm system moved across northern Arkansas overnight Sunday.

According to media outlet KNWA, two people were confirmed dead in Marion County, while one fatality has been reported killed in each of Benton County, Baxter County, and Boone County.

Widespread damage, including debris and downed utility lines, was reported in Rogers, Bentonville, Decatur, Centerton, and Mountain HomePower outages were also scattered throughout the area.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms are expected to develop, most likely during the late afternoon and evening hours, for a good portion of Arkansas. Some storms could be intense and severe, with hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes possible. The Weather Service says heavy rainfall is also expected with these storms.
