Bobbie (Stewart) Pollard of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born November 11, 1941, in Oil Trough, the daughter of Floyd and Annie Jean (Pegg) Stewart.
After completing high school at Grubbs High School, Mrs. Bobbie Stewart went on to marry Mr. John Lynn Pollard on June 19, 1968. Over the course of 56 years, they dedicated themselves to building a loving home and life together.
Having worked many years at Newport Hospital as a nurse’s aide, she transitioned to the role of Equipment Manager at United Medical, where she served for two decades until her retirement.
Mrs. Pollard enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening. She also liked working with puzzle books and watching game shows on television. Above all, the greatest joy in her life was spending time with her son and her grandchildren.
Mrs. Pollard was an active member of Pitts Baptist Church, where she dedicated herself to supporting her husband, John, in his role as a minister. Together, they provided guidance and care to the congregation, ministering to them daily.
Mrs. Pollard was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Lynn Pollard; one brother, Floyd Wayne Stewart; one sister, Shirley Byrd; and her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Lynn Pollard of the home; two grandchildren, Anthony Pollard of Batesville, and Brianna Michelle Pollard and fiancé, Noah of Newport; her honorary granddaughter, Teona Earl of Newport; her daughter-in-law, Marjanna Pollard of Newport; special friend, Renee Koettel Bolden of Newport; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit the funeral home, on Thursday, 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Bill Chambers officiating. Interment will follow at Brown’s Chapel Memorial Cemetery at Union Hill.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Anthony Pollard, Austin Antony, David Henson, Henry Gibbs, Noah Smith, Tony Sullins, David Henson, Jr., and Teona Earl. Members of the Pitts Baptist Church Congregation will serve as honorary pallbearers.
