Obituary: Phillip Lynn Gibson

Phillip Lynn Gibson, 72, passed away on November 9, 2024, in Batesville, AR. He was born on January 24, 1952, in Batesville, AR, to the late Clede Gibson and Lucille (Pectol) Gibson. Phillip loved his family, baseball, and basketball, and was an avid fisherman. Phillip was a long-time Special Olympic volunteer and a professional wrestler for fifty years, who went by Phil Hanson. Above all else, he loved God and was a member of the Newark Assembly of God.

Phillip is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Becky Gibson; son, Tim Gibson (Tonya); daughters, Raina Raines (Michael), Crystal Davidson (Jason), Courtney Jackson (Cody), and Mackenzie Gibson; foster children, Aubrey, Raelynn, Swayzee, and Khloe; grandchildren, Nikolas, Madison, Phillip, Brittney, Kristy, Steven, Brooklyn, Blakelynn, Brocklynn, Brentlynn, and Blesslynn; great-grandchildren, Jax, Gracie, Josh, and Aztrid; and sister, Sally Logan. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, R.C. Gibson, Ray Gibson, Lindsey Gibson, and Larry Gibson; sisters, Dorothy Magness and Mary-Lou Clark; and son, Adam Reynolds.

There will be a visitation held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Willis Funeral Service Chapel from 11 AM until 1 PM. The funeral service, officiated by Brother Brian Combee will follow at 1 PM. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Michael Raines, Nikolas Gibson, Blakelynn Sullins, Brocklynn Sullins, Gary Sullins, Jason Davidson, and Steven Raines. Honorary pallbearers are every wrestler that Phillip (Hanson) worked with over his long wrestling career. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Special Olympics.
