The Ozarka College Foundation has received a $100,000 commitment from Entergy Arkansas to support expanding the Ozarka Technical Center in Mountain View.
The funding will be used for renovations, including electrical upgrades and constructing an outdoor welding lab. Entergy Arkansas will also be the naming sponsor for the newly renovated Construction Lab.
Dr. Josh Wilson, Ozarka’s vice president of advancement, said the investment will enhance technical training opportunities for regional students.
“The generous support provided by Entergy will greatly impact our ability to provide technical training to students in Stone County and the surrounding region,” said Dr. Wilson. “Ozarka’s response to industry needs in Mountain View was met with incredible support from Entergy for this new technical center. We are extremely grateful for Entergy’s investment in north central Arkansas.”
Danny Games, director of business and economic development for Entergy Arkansas, emphasized the importance of workforce development.
“Entergy Arkansas is both honored and grateful for the opportunity to help provide additional educational opportunities for students in the Stone County area,” said Games. “Skilled trade workers continue to be in demand throughout our state and all over the nation, and we know this investment will result in adding qualified workers to our workforce, which will help our customers.”
The expanded technical center will house a new skilled trades program and an expanded welding center. The facility will provide education for college students entering the workforce, offer continuing education for local industry employees, and create career pathways for high school students through Ozarka’s designation as a regional Secondary Technical Center.
The contribution is part of the Ozarka College Foundation’s Vision for Excellence in Education campaign, which aims to raise funds to advance programs and furnish state-of-the-art facilities.
