
Mike Allen Spence of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the age of 67. He was born April 3, 1957, in Lebanon, Indiana, the son of Edgar and Marlene (Sprowl) Spencer.
Mr. Spence married the love of his life, Virginia “Ginger” Breedlove Spence on May 20, 1977, and together they enjoyed forty-seven years of marriage. He was a truck driver for JACO Construction for thirty-seven years. His hobbies included fishing, watching drag racing, and working in his yard. He could often be found tinkering around in his shop, working on his latest project, or hanging out with his dog, Precious. Mr. Spence enjoyed going camping, having cookouts, and taking spur-of-the-moment road trips. He attended the Amagon Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Debbie McQueen; and his parents.
Mr. Spence is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Virginia “Ginger” (Breedlove) Spence; one son, Michael Spence and wife, Heather, of Searcy; one daughter, Jennifer James and husband, William, of Newport; two brothers, Randy Spence of Michigan City, Indiana, and Richard Spence of Dunnellon, Florida; two sisters, Cathy Ball and husband, Ronnie, of Cabot, and Mona Busby of Dunnellon, Florida; seven grandchildren, Katelyn Nobles and husband, Dale, Tiffney Mahan, Robert Pectol, Spencer Tubbs, Gabriel Tubbs, Michael J. Spence, and Xavier Spence; three great-grandchildren, Nova, Isaac, and Ian; many nieces and nephews; special nephew, John Reed; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Thursday evening, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Billy Ed Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Watson Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be John Reed, Josh Reed, Jeremy Tubbs, Spence Tubbs, Gabriel Tubbs, and Gary George. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Nobles, Joey Rhew, Edward Michael III, and William James.
