Archie Wayne Gibbs, Sr., 85, of Batesville, departed this life on Friday, April 25, 2025. He was born on September 3, 1939, in Independence County, to Lawrence Jackson Gibbs and Mary Alice St. John Gibbs.
Archie and Betty Wiltrout were married in Batesville, on July 13, 1977. They celebrated over forty-eight years of marriage.
Archie was a mason and carpenter during his working years and found much proud working on his farm with his cattle. He was a family man who loved being with his family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Betty, of the home: his son, Archie (Amy) Gibbs, Jr.; his brother in law, Jim Rutledge; his grandchildren, Hannah Rutledge, of Batesville, Landon Hanson, of Springfield, Missouri, and Zachary Tracy, of Urbandale, Iowa; one great grandchild, Kimberly Rutledge; several nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kimberly (Sissy) Gibbs Martin; brothers, Don L., Darrell, Laveril, and Jr.; sister, Ramona Rutledge and Janice Beitler.
Funeral Service will be Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Doty Southside Funeral Service.
Burial will follow the service in the Starks Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, May 2, 2025 beginning at 1:00 and continue until service time.
