
Wayne Davis of Amagon, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born August 23, 1938, in Newport, the son of Eary Ernest “Jack” and Ethel Viola (Tanksley) Davis.
Mr. Davis graduated from Weiner High School. Afterward, he served his country in the United States Air Force while also beginning his career as a farmer. Since the age of 12, he has loved being on the farm and working the land. Farming has not only been his job but also his favorite hobby and passion. Mr. Davis particularly enjoyed working alongside his family at their farm, J & W Farms.
A close second to his love of farming was his involvement in the Richwood Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as chief for 16 years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed raising cattle.
Mr. Davis was a member of The Remmel Church, where he served as Elder for many years, led the prayer ministry, and was chair of the education committee.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Franklin Davis; and his parents.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Joan (McDoniel) Davis of the home; two sons, Steve Davis and wife, Jami, of Amagon, and John Davis and wife, Tina, of Kennett, Missouri; one daughter, Lisa Wood and husband, Anthony, of Conway; five grandchildren, Jared Honey, Jessica Redd, Emily Goode, Lance Davis, and Lacey Davis; nine great-grandchildren, Jaysie Redd, Norah Goode, Scottie Goode, Rhett Goode, Asa Davis, Dessie Davis, Kasyn McChesney, Chandler Jones, and Westyn Easterwood; two brothers, Ralph Davis and wife, Dyann, of Balch and Kenny Davis and wife, Mary Jane, of Tumbling Shoals; two sisters, Barbara Jo Mead of Southside, and Linda Fay McCullough and husband, Greg, of Baytown, Texas; his special neighbors and friends, Jackie and Maggie Kieffer, Helen King, and Jimmy and Merline Phillips; many nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Thursday evening, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at The Remmel Church with Mr. Jon Chadwell officiating. Interment will follow at Davis Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jared Honey, Lance Davis, Dalton Wright, Justin Earls, Judy Sitzer, and Tim Snyder.
