Edward Goodman, 81, of Newark, passed from this life on June 7, 2025. He was born in West Helena on April 20, 1944, to Harry Franklin and Margaret Jane (Stone) Goodman.
Edward was a man who appreciated the simple things in life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, and he had a talent for tinkering with lawn mowers and trucks. Caring for his ducks and chickens brought him peace and pride.
A man of faith, Edward served as a minister for several years, dedicating himself to sharing God’s word and helping others. He was known for his gentle spirit, quiet strength, and deep devotion to both his faith and his family.
He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emily; his brothers, Jimmy Goodman, Delton Goodman, and Denton Goodman; his sisters, Janie Rounds and Juanita Swagerty.
He is survived by his sons, Edward Goodman (Wendy) of Newark and Justin Goodman (Allison) of Carlisle; his daughters, Emily Nast (Bobby) of Harrisburg; Patricia Kolke (David) of Newark, and Sharon Shears of Newark; his brother, David Goodman of Cushman; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
The Goodman family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Ashley, Allison, Lamar, and the Elite Hospice staff for their care and compassion for Dad.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2025, at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Newark with Justin Goodman officiating.
