
Lester “Pop” Vernon Hooker, of the Baptist faith, was born May 31, 1928, and passed away at the age of 97 at his home in Harrisburg, Arkansas, surrounded by his family.
He is preceeded in death by his parents: Joseph Henry Hooker and Annie Lee Dunkerson Hooker, his wife, Annamarie Hooker, his brothers: Albert, Virgil, Raymond, and Chester, two sisters: Bertha Meadows and Geneva West, two grandchildren: James Robert and Tara Elizabeth Peck, and his trusted companion and cherished dog, Frazer.
Lester served in the military in Germany, where he met his wife, Annamarie. They moved back to the States to help his Dad operate the family farm. Lester enjoyed playing music, having coffee with his friends, his livestock and being around his grandkids and his great-grands.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Tony) Peck and his son, Ralph (Tammy) Hooker, grandchildren: Jamie (Leah) Peck, Whitney Peck, and Emily (Christopher) Hamrick. Also four great-grandchildren: Landen, Anna Kate, Thomas, and Camreigh ‶Curly Sue″ and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his companion of 11 years, Lou Dobbins.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at noon. Visitation will be from 11:00 A. M. until Service Time, at Jackson’s Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Interment will follow in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye, Arkansas with Military Honors. Service will be conducted by Pastor Harold McMickle and these men will serve as Active Pallbearers: Jamie Peck, Landen Peck, Carry Meadows, Pete Gandy, Danny Hooker, James Hooker, and Keith Morris.
Honorary pallbearers are: All His Coffee Drinking Buddies and Special Thanks to Jennifer Dinkins, Courtney Hinkle and Elite Hospice Care. Arrangements are by Jackson’s Funeral Home.
