Julie Lois Emery, whose life was a true testament of faith and strength, took her final rest in this world to start her eternal life on August 30, 2025.
Julie Lois was born on November 29, 1929, to Sigle and Nellie Williams. She was the eldest daughter of their nine children. She was born and raised on the famous Wolverton Mountain in Conway County, Arkansas. In those years, she found her love for music and the outdoors.
On May 24, 1948, Julie Lois married the love of her life, Edgar “Joe” Emery. They shared a once-in-a-lifetime love with seven “golden” children, as they referred to them- Deborah Jo, Lora, Edgar, Bobby, Hank, Patty Lois, and Jimmy Deon Emery.
Julie Lois lived her life with a servant’s heart. Aside from being a mother and wife, her greatest joy was being a nurse. She spent most of her life caring for people from Harris Hospital to private nursing, childcare, and in her later years, volunteering at Woodruff County Health Center. Julie Lois was a member of the McCrory Church of Christ.
Julie loved the outdoors. As a child, she would run the mountains of Wolverton with her brothers. Later in life, she moved to Batesville and could be found outside from daylight to dark. She would be tending to her huge vegetable garden, flower beds, or her chickens and goats. She loved her animals and treated them like her babies, especially her pig, Wilbur. Most days, you could find her clothed in an old t-shirt, cutoff jeans, and raggedy shoes, but come Saturday night, she was dressed to kill in her dancing shoes. She never missed a dance and seldom sat one out. Julie also enjoyed cross-stitching, quilting, and cooking.
Julie Lois was welcomed home by her true love, Joe, and three of their beloved sons, Bobby, Hank, and Jimmy.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in four of her children, Debbie Girtman (Gaylon) of Batesville, Lora Hall of McCrory, Edgar Emery of Judsonia, and Patty Hatch (Paul) of McCrory; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; three sisters; a host of nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Ms. Ruth Bigham.
Friends may visit at Jackson’s Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Graveside services will follow at Sandhill Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., with Mr. Emmitt Campbell officiating.
