Mattie Ruth (Golden) Arnn of Batesville passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at the age of 92 years old. She was born in Walnut Ridge on April 30, 1933, to Felix and Claudia Golden.
Ruth cherished being with her family. She loved her kids and her grandkids dearly. She was a stay-at-home mom until her three daughters were grown. She raised them in church and taught them to love the Lord. She was always available to help with the grandkids and they all had a very special bond with her. She was silly and fun with them and loved playing board games, especially Scrabble, for hours. She always loved dressing up on Halloween just to surprise them and make them smile. They each have their own stories of mischief that involved her and they all felt loved by her and have memories to last a lifetime.
She was also very close to her siblings and looked forward to their get-togethers, which they had frequently. She loved her church family at Maxville Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City, where she was a member for many years until she moved to Batesville. She then found another church family, whom she loved, at Rehobeth Baptist Church and attended regularly until she began to have some health issues in May of this year. If you knew Ruth, you probably received a card from her because she loved sending birthday cards and get-well cards to all the people she knew and loved. She was also a frequent visitor to the nursing homes and the hospital, checking on her friends or family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, her husband, Boyce Arnn; her siblings, Kathleen Warnick, Wilma Guntharp, Nina Golden, Bob Golden, Howard Golden and Felix Golden Jr. and her sons-in-law, Steve Russell and Rodney Patterson.
Survivors include her three daughters, Dianne Patterson of Batesville, Connie (Mitch) Sharp of Charlotte and Sandy Russell of Mammoth Spring. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Adam Patterson of Fayetteville, Philip (Kayla) Patterson of Deland, Florida, Morgan Jines of Jonesboro, Logan (Lizzy) Russell of Paragould and Carly Russell of Mammoth Spring, along with her three great-grandchildren, Jadence Patterson, Zion Patterson, and Kennedy Jines, her sisters, Betty Sue Dunham, Ann Jackson, Carolyn Allen and her sisters-in-law, Nancy Donovan and Nita Patterson and several nieces & nephews and many others who loved her.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Sidney.
Pallbearers are Adam Patterson, Philip Patterson, Logan Russell, Zion Patterson, Randy Patterson, Alan Vest & Spencer Hart.
